Frequently asked questions

What if my dog isn’t food motivated?

That’s totally okay — and actually something we specialize in! We offer a “Building Food Motivation” class that helps create reward value without high-value treats. Check out our blog on "Building Food Motivation"

My dog is nervous or reactive — can we still attend a group class?

Possibly! We offer structured classes designed for dogs that need emotional support, like “Beyond Reactivity” and “Engage & Explore.” If your dog struggles with other dogs or people, reach out — we’ll help you decide the best starting point.

Do I need prior training experience?

Not at all. Our classes are designed for everyday dog owners — no special skills required. We use straightforward, supportive coaching that helps you feel confident and clear every step of the way.

How many dogs are in each class?

We keep our group sizes small — usually 4 to 6 dogs — so each team gets individual support and space to learn. This also helps reduce overstimulation and ensures a safer environment for everyone.

Can my partner/family member come to class too?

Yes, one additional adult is welcome to attend with you. Children under 12 may attend on a case-by-case basis (please ask first). Everyone must follow class safety and handling rules to keep the space consistent for the dogs

What if I miss a class?

We know life happens! While we can’t offer make-up classes, we provide guidance and support so you can catch up from home. Classes may include written handouts or quick coaching recaps.

What if my dog doesn’t engage with part of the class?

That’s okay — and actually part of what we observe. If your dog avoids an activity, it helps us understand their preferences and where they need support. Every class is designed to allow your dog to choose, explore, and build confidence at their pace.

Will I get homework or things to practice?

Yes — but don’t worry, it’s practical and manageable. Each class includes optional take-home activities that match what we did in class. You’ll be guided through how to apply it in real life, not just a training environment.
